New year, new MAE...

Amy Loddington, Comms Director, Barcadia Media 5th of January 2024

The stands have been packed away and the promotional pen and sweets put back into storage until events season gets back underway, but 2023 was certainly a one to remember for our Mortgage Adviser Events.

Something new in Scotland

First and foremost, we made our Scottish debut when we launched our first #MAEGlasgow event in March, and we were delighted to receive such a positive reception. This really showed us that MAE Glasgow offers an unparalleled chance for brokers in Scotland to network and set up referrals - just like at our events in London and Manchester.

We had a fantastic time at the Engine Works and can’t wait to be back again in March of this year, especially after getting such encouraging feedback from our 2023 attendees, with one describing it as a fantastic event” that “was great to do in Scotland. The people were fabulous and we made some great new connections.” Ultimately, we learned that MAE adapts well to new locations and that there's certainly an audience for events like MAE north of the border, so we hope to keep building on our Glasgow event from here with more to come in 2024!

The heart of the UK's financial industry

In May, we held our flagship event in London at the distinctive Tobacco Dock and were delighted to see it prove to be bigger and better than ever. One highlight was our great line-up of expert speakers, whose seminars aimed to benefit brokers in these challenging times with advice on everything from marketing to protection in the cost-of-living crisis. Not to mention that the event was rounded off with our Hawaiian themed after-hours drinks, where it was great to see so many of our attendees embracing the fun atmosphere!

As well as the fun - and a chance to network with our industry peers after a busy day - MAE London showed us that growth in the market will continue even in the face of current economic issues, and that the appetite to do business is still going strong.

Back in the north (of England)

Finally, we were back at the Victoria Warehouse in late September for MAE Manchester, which became our biggest event this year with exceptional footfall and over 50 stands where intermediaries could interact with some of the industry’s biggest lenders and providers. Our seminar line-up also bolstered the successes of Glasgow and London, covering crucial topics such as Consumer Duty and how brokers can use technology to support their customers in these tricky times.

So what's in store for 2024?

We are excited to keep this growth going at all our events in 2024, starting with MAE Glasgow on 25th March. We will then head back to London on 4th June before rounding the year out in Manchester on 25th September.

In the year to come, we'll focus on continuing to provide carefully curated seminar line-ups which offer brokers practical, hands-on help throughout what may well be another difficult twelve months, as well as working with a huge range of exhibitors to bring the industry together and get conversations going.

We hope to see you there!
